Held on Saturday, March 11 and starting and finishing at the famed Navy-Marine Corp Memorial Stadium, participants had the option of running a half-marathon, 10K, or 5K. All distances ran through beautiful historic downtown Annapolis passing many national landmarks of Maryland’s capital city. The half-marathon and 10K participants traversed across the Naval Academy Bridge giving runners picturesque waterfront views and a tour of Anne Arundel County on the beautiful B & A Trail before heading back to the stadium.
Runners crossed the finish line, received their nautical themed finishers medal, and enjoyed the post-race festivities. This included live music, Michelob Ultras as well as oysters and steamed shrimp. The overall winners for each distance were awarded a trophy and gift cards to local restaurants.
“A fantastic race with a great, challenging course and great perks!!“ boasted one participant. “I loved the free Dunkin’ in the morning, and the raw bar was outstanding! Can’t wait to run again next year!!”
The Annapolis Running Festival also featured a Charity Chaser which benefited the Annapolis Police Foundation. Christina O’Neil, Annapolis Crime Analyst, took on the role as Charity Chaser and participated in the 5K. Christina started dead last and for every runner she passed, Corrigan Sports donated $4 to the Annapolis Police Foundation. Christina passed 581 runners, bringing the donation to $2,321. Additional funds totaling more than $3500 were raised for the Friends of the Anne Arundel County Trails which portions of which were included on the race route.
